Vowel Sound Review
A fun way to review short vowel sounds is to make “tents” with index cards and label them with vowels already taught. The leader says a short vowel word (typically a CVC word) and the students raise the “tent” with the corresponding letter. For example, the word is “cup,” the students find and raise the tent with a “u” on it. Here is a photo of two students racing to find the letter sound connection card before the other. Depending on your students, adding a racing component can encourage automaticity.
